A few new Samsung phones were unveiled yesterday (March 17) during Samsung’s “Galaxy Unpacked” event. Nepal already offers the Samsung Galaxy A72, which is available for purchase right now. Here’s Samsung Galaxy A72 Price in Nepal, specs and features.
Samsung Galaxy A72 Overview:
OEMs are rushing in to incorporate 5G technology into their products due to the popularity of 5G smartphones. Samsung was expected to unveil the 5G variant of the Galaxy A72 during today’s event, but it did not. Still, the A72 5G, which likely runs on Snapdragon 750G, could be announced soon by Samsung.
Like the Galaxy A52, the design of this phone has been reworked as well. It no longer has a glossy reflective back panel and a camera layout that is shaped like an L. With Samsung’s Galaxy S21-like camera module, they are now matte finished. Additionally, this time around there are softer color options to choose from. Their pastel hue looks quite pleasing to the eye, whether they are Black, Blue, White, or Violet.
Further, Samsung has also made the Galaxy A72 dust and water-resistant under IP67 standards. This means that the phone is capable of withstanding immersion in one meter of water for 30 minutes, while also remaining dust- and dirt-resistant. As a result of adding waterproof coatings (as well as a larger battery I’ll discuss shortly), the phone weighs more than its predecessor (203 gm vs. 179 gm).
Display wise, you have a big 6.7″ FHD+ Super AMOLED panel running at 90Hz. YES, Samsung is finally catching up to the premium mid-range and mid-range smartphones with high refresh rates. In spite of the 120Hz screen we had expected, bumping up to 90Hz allows for a noticeable improvement. Its display, however, is stuck at either 60Hz or 90Hz, unlike the variable refresh rate (VRR) found in Samsung’s high-end or even mid-range devices from POCO.
The Galaxy A72’s screen has the same dimensions as the Samsung A52, apart from its size. With the HBM (High Brightness Mode), it offers an incredible brightness of up to 800 nits and is certified by SGS against harmful blue light emission as well. Furthermore, Widevine L1 certification means it supports Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and many other streaming services.
The performance of Samsung’s mid-range phones has historically lagged behind that of other brands. A72 is following the same trend, and that is a little disheartening. Qualcomm chose to go with the rather average Snapdragon 720G chipset here. The recent Galaxy F62 features Samsung’s flagship-level Exynos 9825 chipset. It makes no sense to include 720P on an expensive smartphone.
In any case, you can also get either 6/8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM or as much as 256 GB of internal storage along with the chipset. MicroSD cards up to 1TB can also be inserted into the phone. Android 11 runs the Galaxy A72’s latest One UI 3.1, based on Samsung’s latest One UI. Also, it will receive OS updates for up to three generations and security upgrades for four years.

In regards to the camera, Samsung has provided a decent upgrade. Compared to its predecessor-at least on paper-it appears to have an objectively better camera phone thanks to features such as OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a telephoto zoom lens.
An A72 features a 64MP main optical zoom lens with f/1.8 aperture assisted by a 12MP ultrawide sensor with 123o FOV, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 5MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Face detection remains intact on the front, where a 32MP selfie shooter is available at f/2.2. The Galaxy A72’s rear and front cameras can both shoot videos in 4K/30fps, but the front camera lacks stabilization.
In addition to having optical zoom capability of 3x, the telephoto lens also supports OIS, which is quite promising. Although it does not contain the Director’s View mode found in Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series, the phone does feature fun shooting features like Single Take, Super Slo-Mo, Panorama Mode, Night Mode, and Fun Mode (a Snapchat-exclusive mode developed exclusively for Samsung phones).
Rest of the specs
In addition to bumping the battery capacity, Samsung has also boosted the memory. It is powered by a 5000mAh battery that is capable of 25W fast charging. This is nowhere close to the 7000mAh battery in Samsung’s Galaxy F62, but you should be able to last a day with it.
“Two-day battery life” is what the company claims, but we’ll have to judge for ourselves. It is equipped with Dolby Atmos-compatible stereo speakers, Knox security, Music Share, Buds Together, etc.
