The iPhone 12 Pro Max has officially been made available in Nepal by Genxt, the sole authorized distributor for Apple products in Nepal. As with the 12 and 12 Pro, Genxt will also be providing a year’s worth of insurance for the Max version. I will be discussing the iPhone 12 Pro Max price in Nepal with its features, specs, price, and availability here.
iPhone 12 Pro Max Overview:
iPhone 12 Pro Max design and display
The main difference between the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Pro is their physical size. Due to the flattened edges of the top and bottom glass, as well as the flat frame, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is Apple’s largest iPhone yet. At 7.4mm, it’s slimmer than previous ‘Max’ iPhone models. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is taller, wider, and thicker than last year’s iPhone 11 Pro Max. It weighs 226g as well. Despite having moderately large hands, even for me, the iPhone 12 Pro Max felt too big to handle comfortably at first, and I’m not even talking about using it one-handed.
Despite this, I eventually grew accustomed to it. Considering my commute by public transportation in a post-pandemic world, I would never consider using this as an everyday phone. Since few people are working from home these days, I think this size is suitable for daily use. You still won’t like carrying it around in your pocket, even more so if you use a case.
In the same way as the iPhone 12 Pro, the build quality is fantastic. This iPhone has a stainless steel frame running around all sides, the typical array of buttons and ports, and a frosted glass back panel.
Due to its physical size, the iPhone 12 Pro Max also has the largest display ever seen on an iPhone. The Max model’s display is 6.7 inches, up from 6.5 inches in last year’s model. In addition, it has a higher resolution of 2,778×1,284 pixels compared to the iPhone 12 Pro, resulting in a slightly higher pixel density. However, everything else including the brightness level, contrast ratio, colour gamut, etc are identical. I wish Apple had used a higher refresh rate panel on the Max model, but I guess we’ll have to wait until next year and hope for the best.
iPhone 12 Pro Max cameras
Now, let’s take a look at the cameras, where Apple has made some significant improvements over the iPhone 12 Pro, at least on paper. Compared to the iPhone 12 Pro, the main rear camera is reportedly 47 percent larger. It also has bigger pixels (1.7 micrometers), allowing for better low-light performance. In addition to sensor-shift stabilization, Apple uses optical image stabilization, which is instead of moving the lens to compensate for hand shakes instead of moving the sensor (OIS). This is a first for an iPhone, but we’ve seen a similar implementation in the Vivo X50 Pro recently.
Also, Apple has opted for a new telephoto camera with a longer focal length (65mm vs 52mm), so you’ll get 2.5x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom, rather than 2x optical and 10x digital zoom on the iPhone 12 Pro. Apple says it has made up for the telephoto camera’s downgraded aperture through other means while providing a longer optical zoom range in a similar-sized device.
iPhone 12 Pro Max performance
I’ve left this section till last because the iPhone 12 Pro Max has similar performance to the iPhone 12 Pro. There’s the same Apple A14 Bionic SoC, 6GB of RAM, and 5G, as well as IP68 rating and eSIM support.
Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max is a large and heavy phone, so you’ll use it most of the time with two hands. The size of the device is unwieldy for those who prefer large smartphones. Despite still fearing it will fall out of my pocket when riding a bike, the size is starting to grow on me after about a week. Video viewing is more enjoyable, and texts and apps are easier to use. Color accuracy and contrast have also been highly praised for the display.
My experience with iOS 14 was very similar to that of the iPhone 12 Pro. The 12 Pro Max could still benefit from more multitasking options, but I wish Apple would provide better multitasking options. You can run picture-in-picture mode in most popular video streaming apps, but that is about it. Having such a large display also makes it challenging to reach the contents, but the old swipe-down gesture works well.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max also gets very hot when gaming, just like the iPhone 12 Pro. Many games, like The Pathless, come with a stunningly beautiful look, but they get very hot, even after a short while. Apparently this causes a dip in framerates in some games, because the SoC is throttled in order to prevent temperature spikes. It can become a bit uncomfortable to hold the phone for longer periods of time if it isn’t protected by a case.

iPhone 12 Pro Max battery life
Third-party reports claim the iPhone 12 Pro Max has an impressive 3,687mAh battery, though it’s not as large as the iPhone 12 Pro battery. With medium to light use, I was able to easily go for two full days with one charge of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Even with gaming and heavy use of the cameras, the battery still lasts through one full day, and then some. We tested the iPhone 12 Pro Max to see how long it could last on the HD video loop test, which was better than the 12 Pro, but not as good as what we’ve seen from other Android phones.
Any standard USB Type-C Power Delivery charger can be used to charge the iPhone 12 Pro Max quickly. In an hour, I was able to charge my iPhone 11 Pro from 47 percent to 83 percent using the 18W charger that came with it. If you want to use Apple’s optional MagSafe wireless charger, be aware that it heats up quite a bit and will take longer to fully charge the phone compared with wired charging.

I said at the end of my iPhone 12 Pro review that you may want to check out the 12 Pro Max instead if you don’t have any budget constraints, and after reviewing it, I think it is the better choice. No matter which storage variant you choose, the iPhone 12 Pro is about Rs. 10,000 more expensive than it, but you get a better display, longer battery life, and improved rear cameras. While last year’s iPhone 4 was a little too big for everyone, this year’s iPhone 5 definitely offers the best iPhone experience.
